Something we read in class.
I
feel that 9/11 is a very sad event that happened on 9/11/01. It was
when four planes were hijacked and two were flew into the world trade
center and one was flew into the pentagon. The fourth was believed to be
shot down and by the armed forces and everyone was killed in the plane
wreck but we can't be sure. In all there are 2,983, including everyone
who died at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and in the crash of
United Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pa. I think it was better to
build a memorial there then to just build something new over it. I
believe the fountain works good because it shows water going into what
can be called a dark void and dark voids express a sense of loss and
grief. It is also a good idea how they have everyone who died on the
walls that surrounds the memorial in bronze. It is a beautiful memorial
that doesn't take you to the dark place of 9/11 and leave you there.
attack on the World Trade Center,
But ten years later, the newly completed memorial,
the memorial doesn't carry you into a dark place and leave you there,
a 70-ft.-deep concrete "bathtub" scorched by the fires of the attack, ,
dark voids express a sense of loss and grief,
died at the world trade center,
the backdrop of two giant, churning memory machines,
Can these potent excavations that surrounds them ever fulfill their dual mission, as sacred ground?
